This cranberry margarita is a festive holiday cocktail — made with honey simple syrup, blanco tequila, tart cranberry juice, and fresh lime. It’s crisp, refreshing, and naturally gluten-free with a vegan option.
For the honey simple syrup (skip this if vegan and use maple syrup):
For the honey simple syrup:
Add the honey and water to a small saucepan set over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook until the honey has dissolved – about 2 minutes. Cool to room temperature and then store in the fridge until ready to use.
1/2 cup (120 ml) water, 1/2 cup (160 grams) honey
For the cocktail:
Add the tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until well chilled – about 30 seconds.
2 ounces (1/4 cup or 60 ml) blanco tequila, 1 ounce (2 tbsp or 30 ml) 100% cranberry juice, 1 ounce (2 tbsp or 30 ml) fresh lime juice, 1/2 to 1 ounce (1-2 tbsp or 15-30 ml) honey simple syrup
Optional – to rim your glass, run a lime wedge around the rim and then dip it in coarse salt, sugar, or a mix of the two.
lime wedge, coarse salt and/or sugar
Fill your glass with fresh ice and strain in the margarita. Garnish with a few fresh cranberries and enjoy.
- If using sweetened cranberry juice, like Ocean Spray, halve the sweetener and then add to taste.
